Description
L.K. Comstock is serving as the prime contractor for this $73 million, four-year project to modernize Corona Yard, which is located in Flushing Meadows and serves the IRT Flushing Line of the New York City Subway.
Scope
Comstock is commissioning the new signal master tower complex and supplying and installing the signal, communications systems and electrical equipment. The project includes the following work:
- Civil – Perform civil construction services for the new four story signal master tower - including new relay, track and CBTC rooms, yard signal tower rotunda, training rooms, communication rooms, office and storage rooms and associated site work.
- Mechanical – Install HVAC, duct work, fans, dampers, associated controls and the building management system.
- Track –Install seven new lay-up tracks and replace ties at existing switch locations.
- Communications – Install new fiber optic and communications systems.
- Electrical – Install new electrical services, distribution equipment, lighting and power and install new wayside signal equipment.
