Description
The $162-million Grand Concourse project rehabilitated the signal and communications systems for the NYCT’s Grand Concourse Line, a key commuter line linking the Bronx with Manhattan.

Scope
L.K. Comstock provided electrical services totaling $83 million and civil architectural services totaling $15 million. This work included replacing the existing electro-mechanical-based signal system (circa 1933) with conventional fixed block technology. L.K. Comstock constructed and installed signal equipment in a new master signal tower, five relay rooms and a central instrument room and signal power room. The project was completed in 2007.

Unique features
While rehabilitating the systems on the line, L.K. Comstock electricians installed approximately 1.5 million feet of signal cable and 270 signals.
