Description
The Prairie State Energy Campus is a 1,600 megawatt supercritical coal-fired electricity generating station and coal mine under construction in Southern Illinois. It will feature advanced pollution controls to minimize particulate and greenhouse gas emissions.
Scope
RailWorks is serving as the general contractor through all phases of this complex, multi-disciplined, multi-million-dollar project. RailWorks is performing the track work, railroad crossing and signal construction, furnishing all track materials, and managing the subcontractors performing the earthwork and bridge construction. Track work includes constructing a total of 52,000 feet of new track, including a double-loop at the plant site, four railroad crossings, and three railroad bridges.
Unique features
A project of this size and complexity requires extensive project management capabilities. RailWorks is drawing on these capabilities to manage all phases of the projects to ensure the multi-disciplined work is completed on time and to required specifications.
