RailWorks Track Systems broke ground June 26 on a new, 20,000-square-foot regional facility in Deer Park, Texas.

The new facility, to be leased from GSL Welcome Group, will serve as the headquarters for the South Division of RailWorks Track Systems, a U.S. track construction and maintenance contractor. Located on 4 acres at 1600 W. 13th Street in Deer Park, the complex will feature 9,000 square feet of office space and an adjoining shop and yard for material and equipment.  KDW, Ltd. will construct the build-to-suit facility.

“RailWorks has provided track construction and maintenance services in the Houston region for nearly 90 years,” says Bob Rolf, Vice President & General Manager of RailWorks Track Systems. “With expanded shop and office space and our central location in Deer Park, our new facility will allow us to better serve and meet the growing needs of our customers.”

RailWorks’ regional office oversees work performed by about 275 employees who serve railroads and rail-served businesses and authorities throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. RailWorks has operated in the Greater Houston area since 1924.  The company operated under the name Wm. A Smith Construction Company until it was acquired by RailWorks Corporation in 1998.
