Unimin Sand Plant Rail Yard

RailWorks constructed 6,800 feet of new track, nine turnouts and two crossovers at Unimin's silica sand mine in Utica, Ill.
During a four-month job in 2012, RailWorks constructed seven yard tracks totaling 6,800 feet connecting into the existing track, nine new turnouts and two new crossovers using new 115# rail materials. Crews also installed a double-switch-point derail and a 24-foot, four-board timber crossing at the silica sand mining facility.
