New York, NY – May 19, 2026 – L.K. Comstock was recognized at the 2026 Los Angeles County Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 11 Awards Ceremony, held May 14, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, receiving honors for both project execution and safety performance.

The company received the Electrical Excellence Award for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Westside Subway Extension Project, Section 1, in the Transportation Systems Over $500,000 category. In addition, L.K. Comstock was awarded the prestigious Terry V. Perkins Safety Award in the 10,000 to 40,000 manhours category, recognizing the company’s outstanding safety performance and commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture across its projects.

Presented annually by the Los Angeles County Chapter of NECA and IBEW Local 11, the Electrical Excellence Awards recognize contractors whose work on landmark Southern California projects exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship, professionalism, innovation, and safety. The Terry V. Perkins Safety Award honors companies and individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to safety on NECA/IBEW projects throughout the Los Angeles NECA and IBEW Local 11 jurisdiction.

L.K. Comstock earned the Electrical Excellence Award for its work on the LACMTA Westside Subway Extension Project, Section 1—now operating as part of Metro’s D Line. The 3.9-mile heavy rail subway extension expands transit service westward from the existing Wilshire/Western Station through the Wilshire Corridor to Beverly Hills, adding three new underground stations at La Brea, Fairfax, and La Cienega.

As the transit systems contractor, L.K. Comstock designed, furnished, installed, tested, and commissioned the project’s complete suite of critical rail systems. The scope included train control and signaling systems, traction power systems and integrated communications systems consisting of CCTV, SCADA, public address, visual message boards, fire alarm, gas detection, access control, radio communications, seismic detection, network systems, and tunnel intrusion systems.

“This recognition reflects the dedication, technical expertise, and commitment our teams bring to every project,” said Ed Kitzman, President of L.K. Comstock National Transit. “Safety is not just a metric for us—it is a core value that guides every decision we make. Receiving these awards is a meaningful acknowledgment of the professionalism, vigilance, and teamwork our employees demonstrate every day in delivering complex transit infrastructure safely and successfully.”

The recognition comes shortly after a major milestone for the project, as Metro celebrated the start of revenue service for the Westside Subway Extension on May 8, marked by an official opening event attended by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority leadership, project stakeholders, and industry partners.

One of Southern California’s most transformative transit investments, the D Line Extension represents a significant advancement in regional mobility and underscores the collaboration and technical excellence required to deliver complex underground transit infrastructure. L.K. Comstock’s contributions to the project reflect the company’s continued commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical and transit systems solutions across major transportation programs nationwide.
