Hudson Materials Company is gearing up for the paving season with an eco-friendly twist. Their brand-new asphalt terminal just received its first shipment of liquid asphalt delivered via tank cars rolling on cutting-edge sustainable steel ties!

This innovative project, designed by CivilSmith, LLC, marks a significant step towards greener infrastructure. Robert Maner, owner of CivilSmith, proudly states: "This is a nice project here in Chattanooga to demonstrate the feasibility of steel ties even for smaller size rail projects".

The construction, skillfully executed by Knox Rail Service, LLC, highlights the numerous advantages of steel ties over traditional wood:

• Effortless and speedy construction: Streamlined installation saved time and resources, minimizing disruption within the worksite.
• Built to last: Steels robust nature translates to significantly lower maintenance costs in the long run.
• Environmentally friendly: Sustainable steel ties leave a smaller carbon footprint compared to wood, contributing to a greener future.

Jim Distin, President of Knox Rail Service, emphasizes the project's impact: "The application of constructing industrial tracks with steel ties is far superior to that of wood tie construction. The ease and efficiency of construction in conjunction with coordinating multiple crafts' work within the railroad footprint was a huge benefit to the Owner. The long-term savings in maintenance is just an added bonus."

This project paves the way for a more sustainable future in railway infrastructure.
