AREMA Technical Committee 5 Visits NARSTCO Plants
Midlothian, TX (May 17, 2023) - NARSTCO, North America’s leading manufacturer of sustainable steel ties and turnouts, hosted over 65 members of the AREMA Technical Committee 5 at their manufacturing plants in Cedar Hill and Midlothian, Texas.
Committee members got to witness first-hand how NARSTCO takes recycled steel and produces long-lasting sustainable steel ties and turnouts. The primary source of the steel used for the steel ties and turnouts comes from scrap automobiles, which are visible upon entry to the Midlothian plant. “It is one thing to talk about our products being made from scrap steel, but to see it in person is really something, said Bruce Jones, General Manager of NARSTCO. We are thankful that the AREMA Technical Committee 5 took the time to tour both of our facilities and see our process from start to finish.”
AREMA Technical Committee 5 is responsible for the development and publication of recommendation practices and information relating to design, use and maintenance of special track work, track geometry, track construction, maintenance procedures, and much more.
