On Nov. 9, the City of El Paso inaugurated the El Paso Streetcar service. RailWorks is proud to have been part of this game-changing transit service for the city.
Paso Del Norte Trackworks — a joint venture of Granite Construction and RailWorks Track Systems, along with L.K. Comstock National Transit as the systems subcontractor — has been a part of the project for more than three years. The project included an embedded 4.8 miles of track streetcar system using girder rail with two main loops (downtown and uptown) as well as a maintenance storage facility. RailWorks Track Systems installed approximately 26,694 TF of standard track, seven embedded turnouts and four crossings with block rail and associated transitional pieces. L.K. Comstock National Transit installed 420 OCS poles, 29,500 feet of OCS cable, 17,000 LF of traction power substation feeder cables, two powered switch machines and 15 TWC loops.
"This project exemplified partnership in every sense of the word," said Kevin Riddett, RailWorks CEO. "Partnership with suppliers and contractors, with the city, Sun Metro and Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority enabled the project to be completed on time and on budget."
