Two engineers in Southern California have found a home with RailWorks, translating their classroom education to work on real-world infrastructure projects.
After visiting with RailWorks and L.K. Comstock at a UCLA job fair last year, Seonghae Ye and Pooya Pahlevani signed on for internships with L.K. Comstock on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor project, where L.K. Comstock is providing transit systems work for the extension of a Metro line in Los Angeles County. Ye’s work has focused on traction power, and Pahlevani assisted the communications team.
Ye and Pahlevani were both hired on as full-time employees after graduation in May. Bill Heavin, President of L.K. Comstock National Transit, said Ye and Pahlevani have been great additions to the team and are already making an impact on this important infrastructure project.
“Working at L.K. Comstock is challenging and interesting,” said Pahlevani, who is now a communications engineer. “The work environment is very friendly and the employees are like family — everyone is willing to help each other out. The team has been great in supporting me in my new role.”
Ye, a field engineer, appreciates the opportunities for learning and development in his new position.
“This is my first engineering job, and everything I do in my role is helping me become a better engineer,” said Ye. “Going to the field, communicating with employees and working together helps me understand how important communication and teamwork really are. Knowing this project will provide a great service to many people also makes me passionate about the work.”
“At RailWorks, we’re committed to our team and to providing employees with opportunities for professional and personal growth,” said Harry Glantz, Senior Vice President of Human Resources. “RailWorks benefits greatly from the perspectives and enthusiasm young professionals bring.”
