RailWorks built a new rail yard at Aux Sable USA’s natural gas liquids (NGL) plant in Morris, Ill.

RailWorks served as general contractor on the $6 million Channahon Facility project. Work got under way in October 2010, and improvements include grading, drainage, track and turnout construction, and electrical work.

RailWorks crews removed 1,600 feet of track and two turnouts and constructed 17,800 feet of track, 17 turnouts, 17 track bumpers and five grade crossings. Other site work included importing nearly 200,000 cubic yards of material for fill, installation of site power for lighting and security gate operations, 4,000 feet of security fencing, culvert installations and abandonments, and the installation of pipeline protection pads for tracks crossing underground pipelines.

Unique Features

The project enabled Aux Sable to store and switch 150-plus rail cars on their own track property.
