CSXT expanded capacity on its strategic Chicago-Florida rail corridor and other sites identified for capacity improvements. RailWorks served as the prime contractor to self-perform the track construction work while managing subcontractors to perform the civil, electrical and drainage work. RailWorks installed a new siding at Lilly, Ga., in a six-hour work window.
RailWorks constructed and extended 17 sidings in six states (Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Indiana) at strategic sites on CSX T’s main line. RailWorks prepared the sites for the new track roadbed, rehabilitated and constructed the track, and assembled and installed turnouts. All work — totaling approximately 158,130 of new track and 41 concrete and wood turnouts, 846 feet of crossings, two bridges, numerous box culverts and drain pipe — was completed to CSX Transportation's and Federal Railroad Administration standards with no lost-time incidents.
