L.K. Comstock rehabilitated the signal system on New York City Transit Authority (NYCT) No. 7 line, an essential rail link between eastern Queens and Manhattan, one of the busiest transit lines on the NYCT system.

L.K. Comstock installed, tested and placed into service signal equipment for the three major interlockings at Queensboro Plaza, 33rd Street and 74th Street in Queens. The four-year, $50 million project included both civil and electrical work.

Project Scope

  • Civil – Comstock erected two new relay room structures and performed miscellaneous civil work at the third relay room.
  • Electrical – Comstock installed complete wayside and relay room signaling equipment, including 130 relay room racks, 2,500 relays and 150,000 lf of rack-to-rack wiring.
